BIOGRAPHY

Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu was born in 1970 on Elcho Island (Australia).
He is blind from birth, this particular pushes into music. Outstanding
musician, he plays drums, guitar and didgeridoo (a wind instrument
played by the Aborigines), but especially by her voice that astonishes
Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. He made his debut as a singer in
the Aborigine group Yothu Yindi, but soon the beauty of her singing
the notes. His talent quickly exceeds the borders of Australia
and a record company offered him to record his first album in
2008. "Gurumul" is welcomed by the public and critics
and won the first prize in the category of world music in ARIA
Music Awards (Australian Recording Industry Association Music
Awards). Since then, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu travels the world
to sing his country's history that an invitation to travel with
him and his voice so transcendent. |
