Barry White, whose real name Barrence Eugene Carter, was born September 12, 1944 in Galveston, Texas (USA). Street child, he grew up without education and ends up in prison at the age of seventeen years for theft. There he decides to give a new direction in his life discovering the music and especially singing. On leaving prison, he becomes a singer in several bands and composing his first tracks for other singers. It will concentrate on production work with the female group Love Unlimited Orchestra "in the late sixties. Yet in 1973, he decided to move back behind a microphone.

This is the beginning of a huge success for Barry White. His rich bass voice and his songs are romantic soul singer missed the seventies. He scored big hits "Can not Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe" (1974), "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" (1975), "Let The Music Play" (1976) and many of other tubes yet. Although his career was eclipsed somewhat during the eighties, it is very strong in the mid-ninety and made a resounding comeback that earned him further rewards. Problems of high blood pressure forced him to curtail his career in 2002 while awaiting a kidney transplant that never comes. He died July 4, 2003, leaving his nine children orphaned and thousands of fans who will always remain the king of soul music.
