BIOGRAPHY :
The group Tinariwen was born from the meeting of Ibrahim ag Alhabib, Alhassan ag Touhami and Intayaden in 1982 in Algiers (Algeria), but group members are from Tessalit, an oasis in the Sahara Desert in northern Mali. The name of the group comes from elsewhere in this desert region, Tinariwen means "deserts". The group's debut book in a message of hope, but also of resistance during the Tuareg rebellion that shook the trans-Sahara region until 1992. When peace returned, the group finally totally dedicated to his music. Through meetings Tinariwen grows and receives new members who come and go as schedules of everyone.

In 2002, although several groups of cassettes already circulating, Tinariwen recorded his first real album "The Radio Sessions Tisdas. Mixture of blues and traditional music, this first test is given a good home. But it was in 2004 with its second album ( "Amassakoul) Tinariwen will know that the success it deserves. Albums enchainent Tinariwen and had international success through extensive touring. Today the main group members are Ibrahim ag Alhabib (vocals, guitar, composition), Mohamed ag Itlal (vocals, guitar, composition), Alhousseini ag Abdoulahi (vocals, guitar, composition), Alhassane ag Touhami (vocals, guitar, composition), Ayad Said ag (percussion, vocals), Eyadou ag Leche (bass, vocals, percussion), Abdallah ag Lamidi (guitar, vocals), Wounou wallet Sidati (vocals, claps) and Kesa wallet Hamid (vocals, claps) . In 2009 with his fourth album "Imidiwan Companions" Tinariwen is the leading advocate of Tuareg through his music.
