BIOGRAPHY

Lou Reed, whose real name Lewis Alan Reed was born March 2, 1942
in New York (United States). He took his first piano lessons at
age five, but will quickly abandon this instrument to a guitar,
a more modern taste. In 1958, it is part of Jade and composed
his first tracks, without much success. On completing his studies,
he enlisted in a record company as a writer composer. These compositions
are imitations of the hits of the moment. Lou Reed invented a
new tuning for the guitar, "Guitar Ostrich" which sees
all the strings played open on the same note. Lou Reed engaging
the services of John Cale, Sterling Morrison, and Angus Daryl
MacLise to form a new avant-garde group "Velvet Underground".
Although the talented group is not recognized immediately, "Velvet
Underground" makes an important contribution to the history
of rock music. |
