BIOGRAPHY :
Janis Joplin was born January 19, 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas (USA). As a child she sang in the choir of his city, but in adolescence it is really love for singing. She sings with several groups of his school and his university and abandoned his studies. In 1963 she left Texas to live with San Francisco. She leads a dissolute life filled with alcohol, drugs and sex, but affirmed by his different style and rebellious. In 1966, she became the singer of the band Big Brother And The Holding Company. The band recorded an eponymous album which will experience a low success. However, the group returned the following year with his second album "Cheap Thrills" Janis Joplin which delivers incredible performance with his gravelly voice, powerful but controlled.

It is with this album and concerts offers one of the icons of rock music in the late sixties. In 1969, Janis Joplin formed a new group (Kozmic Blues Band) with whom she recorded the album "I Got Dem Ol 'Kozmic Blues Again Mama!" and participate to the Woodstock festival. In 1970, Janis Joplin recorded with a new formation (Full Tilt Boogie Band) album that remains one of the references to rock music: "Pearl". (Pearl is also the name of Janis Jopli because trinkets razzle-l'oeil she liked to wear). During the recording sessions, October 4, 1970, Janis Joplin died of a heroin overdose. She was cremated and his ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean. With his work, Janis Joplin among the pantheon of rock singers, died after a brief and meteoric career.
